Presidents, Lesson One

Seems like basic historical knowledge in the United States would start with the founding of the country and by default, the Founding Fathers and Early Presidents.

We have a great book called John, Paul, George and Ben.  My kids were indoctrinated into  Beatles culture early, so they got the joke right away.

The founding of the country is a great subject for little boys because...
it involves a war.  Regardless of your feelings about violence, little boys are really intrigued by wars.   The two sides would make an interesting chess set too, but I haven't found one of those yet.

Since General George Washington became President George Washington, the segue into learning about Presidents is an easy pill.

Melissa and Doug makes puzzle (spacial arrangements!) with pictures of the Presidents in the order they served.  They are also numbered.  You'd expect that to make the puzzle fairly easy, but the fashions the men are wearing are a distraction that draws the assignment into something longer than it should be.  Just another way to remember history!
